Weapons locked and loaded. The squad is in position. Now it’s time to rush in, grab the loot and be out of there. But without good coordination, the mission is doomed to fail from the start.
In search of the ideal extraction shooter
Extraction shooters like Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown have fueled the hype around an entire genre in recent years. Yet even though many people play extraction shooters, one feeling often dominates the experience: stress. It stems from the pressure to outlast human opponents, the fear of losing gear and the constant struggle for survival.
This deters many shooter fans. Games of Tomorrow aims to offer an alternative. Incursion Red River deliberately avoids PvP and retains the appeal of a tactical PvE extraction shooter.
Realism without stress
Set in an alternate version of Vietnam, players must complete missions as a team, hold their own against enemies and bring back as many resources as possible. No PVP, no human opponents to stress you out—just teamwork, tactics, and loot. By choosing Vietnam as a setting—one that hasn’t been used in a long time—the developers aimed to breathe new life into the genre, rather than relying on the tried-and-true Eastern European or American settings.

A vibrant world breathing like reality
For the game designers, creating a compelling and immersive setting is one of the most important aspects of their game. To achieve this, the 3D modeler traveled throughout Vietnam and took countless reference photos, which now serve as inspiration for the game. In addition, a group of Vietnamese consultants is supporting Games of Tomorrow to give the entire game an authentic look and feel. This ranges from geographical features to buildings and cultural details. On top, the maps featured in the game are based on real locations.
Our goal is to create an extraction shooter that feels like you’re really there. PvP naturally pushes players toward constant pressure and competition, but our focus is immersion. We want players to slow down, take in the world and truly feel part of it.

Voice chat for teamwork, easily integrated
For a game that focuses on immersion and coop action, traditional options like Discord or TeamSpeak weren’t an option. The developers of Incursion Red River were looking for a solution that would integrate seamlessly into the game. ODIN Voice had already caught their attention for its performance in other games. So they incorporated the voice chat into the game as a permanent feature in the update of February 25, 2026. ODIN Voice fits right in with the eye for detail seen throughout this game. Now it really felt like you were right on the scene.
Still, it wasn’t just the fact that ODIN Voice is increasingly used by other shooters that convinced the developers. The German origins of 4Players, the company behind ODIN, also meant short communication channels and fast support. And above all: It was the most straightforward implementation, compatible with everything the team was already using: Wwise and Unreal Engine 5.
After all, ODIN Voice is a 3D voice chat SDK that integrates directly into the game engine—without any detours. This means players’ voices are treated just like any other in-game sound. The engine handles distance, obstacles, environmental changes, and more all on its own. The result: no additional software and no complicated setup. In return, ODIN Voice delivers realistic in-game communication that draws players deeper into the world.

“ODIN Voice really impressed us as players in various other FPS games. At that point, it was clear to us: we wanted this solution too,” emphasizes Moritz Naser. “What convinced us even more was how easy it was to implement. It took us barely a day to integrate it and everything was up and running.”
Connecting ODIN Voice to Incursion Red River was practically a breeze. The many sample projects, guides and detailed documentation are especially helpful. And if something gets stuck, the developers reach out to support via Discord, which is always there right away.
Flexibility for the full immersive experience
But Games of Tomorrow is far from reaching the end of its journey with ODIN Voice in Incursion Red River. The roadmap still has plenty in store. Among other things, players are set to gain more flexibility in voice chat settings. This way, everyone can create their own unique experience.
ODIN Voice makes this possible with ease, as it is deeply embedded in the engines. The seamless integration, high quality and future-proof design continue to inspire Games of Tomorrow as they develop the game towards its release. And the players love it, too. Thanks to the integrated voice chat, the feeling of being in the game’s authentic world has finally become a reality.
